Article Marketing Tips | Article Marketing Strategy

Article marketing is one of the most tried and true methods of both generating targeted traffic to your site and building high quality, highly relevant back links to your site, thus improving your search engine optimization efforts.

The issue with article marketing for many is that they simply don’t know how to direct their efforts to produce the greatest return. We have put together a great article marketing strategy for you to follow to get the most out of your article marketing. In addition, we present it in a very concise, easy to follow manner as article marketing tips that requires very little reading on your part so you can get right to driving traffic and generating high quality back links.

Step one – Do your keyword research

Make sure you are targeting long tail phrases that get search traffic with your articles. Use Google’s keyword tool for this, simply search “google keyword tool” and you will find it. Enter your keyword phrase in the “word or phrase” box and click search. Be sure to check the radio box on the left that gives you “exact match”. Browse the results and choose a keyword phrase from the list. Low competition is preferred. This will be the title of your article.

You should do this for each article you write, that way you will be picking up many long tail keywords as you submit more and more articles.

Step two – Create your resource box

This is the resource box that will appear at the end of each article you submit. We suggest structuring it in this manner:

You can learn more about this interesting subject by visiting Your keywords here. You may also be interested in this great resource for Your Article Keywords Here.

Notice that you have two links in your resource box. One links to your home page, the other links to the last article you have written, using the title of that article (which is also your long tail keyword) for the anchor text.

This is important, as this can really help your long tail keywords get ranked in the search engines. If you have one article in particular that you would like to see ranking, you can create more articles with links to that article. By doing this, you are building links to your main site with every article, plus promoting your long tail keywords that make up your other articles. The end result is more traffic and higher rankings. Read more about this in our article resource box post.

Step three – Write your article

We are not going to tell you how to write your article. We are going to tell you what to include, though. Be sure to use your chosen keyword phrase in the opening sentence if possible. If not, be sure to use it in the opening paragraph. Also be sure to use it in the closing paragraph.

Finally, don’t end your article. When people finish reading your article, and it ends, they figure they are done, and they go on browsing the web. Instead, use an open ending that gives a good introduction to your author box. For example, instead of ending your article like this:

So to sum it all up, follow these article marketing steps and you will be a great article marketer in no time!

End it like this:

There are many more tips on article marketing.

No one expects an article to end that way, so the natural reaction is to keep reading. The next sentence they see is your author resource box, telling them to visit your site for more information on the subject. This is where the real article marketing strategy comes in, because you don’t want people to just read your article, you want them to read and click through to your site to find out more.
